Seaweed Skincare- is it worth the hype?

I have been using Ri na Mara (“King of the Sea”) skincare products for the last couple of months. It’s not often Irish beauty products come around so I have been very excited about this range! The products are available in Europe, USA, Canada and Australia.

The products contain up to 7% seaweed, compared to only 1% or less in most seaweed alternatives. The seaweed is hand harvested and organic and many types are used, including Laminaria Digitata,Chondrus Crispus, Fucus Serratus, Fucus Vesicolosus and Ascophyllum Nodosum. The seaweed off the west coast of Ireland which hosts some of the purest marine waters in Europe.

My favourite of the range is definitely the face cream. It’s really rich and moisturising, ideal as a night cream (it doesn’t contain sun protection). Ingredients include 3 different types of seaweed, Shea Butter, and Avocado oil. The scent is very subtle and soothing. Perfect for dry, dehydrated skin.

The Firming Body Lotion is a lovely everyday lotion. I’m not convinced it firmed my skin, but it is a really good moisturiser! It also makes a great aftersun. The natural ingredients include Seaweed, Aloe Vera,Shea butter, Laminaria Digitata, Chondrus Crispus, and Apricot Kernel Oil.

As with the other products the Shower Gel has a really mild scent and is rich in minerals. It’s very moisturising, so great for dry or sensitive skin. Combined with the Body Lotion your skin will feel amazing.

Keeping Beautiful’s Verdict I really like this range. The products are full of amazing ingredients, and my dry skin feels much more hydrated after using them. I also really love that they’re Irish!

Highly recommended for dry skin! 4/5
